Rev. Esther Jadhav – “God Is Love!”
"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands.” -- Deuteronomy 7:9
We often find ourselves questioning God’s love. When we experience difficult events in our life many questions are stirred in our heart. Such is the nature of tragedy. We wonder where God is. We wonder why God did not protect us. We wonder why God allowed the tragedy to happen. Through these myriad questions we need to believe God is good, He is faithful, and He is love.
Even God’s chosen people, the Israelites, had moments when they wondered if God really loved them, especially when they suffered painfully under the hands of Pharaoh in Egypt. The story of Israel is an apt example of victory and redemption because of God’s love. He set them free and led them into the promised land of Canaan. Despite their shortcomings, failure to keep His word, and means of victory were naught, He kept His promise with them. His love for the Israelites was greater than His disappointment in them.
Do you question God’s love? Remember that the Lord your God is faithful. Take comfort in knowing God kept His covenant of love with the Israelites and the thousand generations, including ours, that choose to love Him and keep His commands.
