Prof. Michele Wells – “Near to Truth”

July 18, 2016

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” - Psalms 145:18 (NASB)

Sometimes we get out of touch with loved ones.  We don’t connect as much as we would like to. Even with social media and the ease of texting, snapchatting, or twitter, etc. we can still be far away from those we care about. We want to connect to these people because they add something to our lives.  Even if we cannot pinpoint why, we recognize that we are recharged when connected to that person with whom we have been out of touch.

Our relationship with Christ is the same. He is so near to us, but we are out of touch. Have you ever asked, “Where are You, Lord?”  It is in the truth of His Word that we find Him. Scripture helps us to dialogue with God. He said that His Word does not return to Him without accomplishing what He sent it to do (Isaiah 55:11). So many times we look for contentment in other things or in those people that I spoke of, but the reality is, the greatest contentment comes in having the Lord near. His voice, through Scripture, can bring the contentment and the connection that we seek. We can experience that recharge every day as we call to the Lord through His truth. He responds and He is near.
