Prof. Michele Wells – “Chosen for the Team”

December 20, 2013

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other. “ -- John 15:16-17

I was never very good at sports so I was always the last one chosen when we picked teams to play kickball outside on the playground.  In spite of my limited sports skill I remember being on the elementary school volleyball team and serving a winning game because the other team just wasn’t that good!  It was a huge surprise and sense of excitement that I had never experienced because I had never done well in any sport.

It is so refreshing to know that the only qualification to be on God’s team is to say yes to Him and we can experience that excitement all the time. He has equipped us for the victory and has given everything we need to win!  The most amazing thing about His equipping is there will be some fruit and the impact we have on the lives of others will remain.  In other words we are blessed to be a blessing.  We are chosen so others can also be chosen; chosen so God’s love can be demonstrated perpetually through us.  His fruit will continue to give; His love always remains.
