Dr. Sandra Gray – “The Mind of Christ”
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 2:5
What does it mean to have the mind of Christ? Simply put, the very thinking of Jesus is to be our thinking also. That is a tall order! This means ordering the way we live after the example of Christ. Decision making, personal and business relationships, stewardship of resources, goals and aspirations -- all to be conformed to Jesus’ way of thinking. We cannot do this on our own. We need the Holy Spirit to empower us to lay down our own way of thinking and to teach us how to be more like Jesus.
As you turn to His Word today, ask yourself whether you are conforming to His nature or is your life a reflection of what you see in the world? We are called to be different, recognizably, notably different. Are you allowing the experiences God brings into your life to shape and form you into His likeness? Verse 7 of Philippians says He (Christ) gave up His Divine privileges and took the humble position of a slave.
As Christians, and as Asburians, we want to model the servanthood observed in the life of our Savior. The world is waiting for authentic Christ followers, ones who are willing to be set apart, fully surrendered to His will and His ways, for His sake. As Beth Coppedge, author, teacher, minister, said, “All of me for all of Him; now that is a welcome exchange.”1
… May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.”2
