Dr. Marty Bilderback - “Feed my Sheep”
“‘Simon, son of John, do you truly love Me more than these?’ ‘ Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘You know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’” -- John 21:15 NIV
…Feed my lambs… Take care of my sheep… Feed my sheep. These are three commands that Jesus gave Peter when He reinstated Peter to do His work. Quite frequently we also feel that our usefulness to Jesus is no longer possible after we have denied Him in our everyday life, but we could not be more wrong! We are all called to do Christ’s work daily.
Jesus commands us to feed and care for others daily. This can take on many forms, but using His examples we are to take care of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those people who cross our path today. Maybe you need to give someone a ride, take them to lunch, or even just stop what you are doing to listen and give support.
Feeding sheep involves different actions from each of us; but we all together have the responsibility to minister to each other as Christ cares for us. In the corporate community of Asbury we each will have our talents to minister to those in need. Let it be our prayer today for each of us to be able to identify the needs in our community and commit ourselves to helping our brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen.
