Dr. John Morley – “A Life of Abundance”

March 26, 2014

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’” – Romans 8:15

We were created in the image of God--children of the good and Holy One, who He referred to as “very good.” From the onset of creation, the intention was for us to live in holiness and perfect relationship with the Father. Sadly, this perfect relationship was lost at the fall as sin entered the world; however, this does not diminish what we were created for and who we were intended to reflect. In our world today, so much of our identity is wrapped up in what we can produce, how we can perform, or what title we have. The reality is that none of these matter. God created us to be in fellowship with Him, and He calls us His BELOVED. This is where our identity begins and ends.

Holiness is simply a chance to reclaim that image and live it out moment by moment, not so that we look good, avoid poor choices, or say the right things, but because this is what God wants for us--and hold on to your seats--He wants more for us than we want for ourselves. (Hard to imagine since I know how selfish I am.) But, it is true! Jesus came so that we might have life and have it abundantly. That is what holy living is for us: our opportunity to live centered on the Loving Father so He can lavish His love upon us.
