“Digesting the Word” – Dr. Rocky Wallace

January 08, 2018

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

For years at our church, we tried everything it seemed to get more folks interested in mid-week small group. We used videos, we brought food, we did this, and we did that. One evening, my wife, who leads this group, simply asked the members: “What do you want to study—more than anything else?” They replied: “We want to hear you teach us the Bible.”

And so, this past year, that’s what she has done. The group simply dives into deep conversations from the Scriptures—every week. And their numbers have doubled in recent months. When it’s all said and done, followers and seekers of all ages are thirsting for God’s Word.  We leaders in the church—pastors, Sunday School teachers, youth ministers, other small group leaders—perhaps we have gotten too much into the pop psychology of modern Christianity, which does serve a purpose, but can’t compete with the living water from the Bible.

CORNERSTONE:  Scripture
