When John Wesley Hughes founded Asbury University in 1890 — first calling it Kentucky Holiness School — his stated objective was to get “sinners converted, believers sanctified and the student body established in the experience and doctrine of the Holy Scriptures.”

Today, in more than 50 majors, this triple bottom line of getting people saved, sanctified and ready for service has never been more evident. With programs ranging from Equine Management and Education to Film Studies and Philosophy, these objectives continue to guide the institution in its strategic planning and development.

Each day in the lives of students, faculty, staff and alumni, Asbury demonstrates the relevance of the Christian liberal arts, the vitality of their Christian faith, and the call to be witnesses at home and around the world.
