Position Overview: Plan, lead and implement After-school and Summer Programs for middle and high school students at Common Good. Help each student maximize his/her potential. Provide emotional, spiritual and behavioral support to students, while acting as a liaison to the home and school setting. Walking alongside families to foster a loving, emotionally healthy environment in the home, school and community setting. This is a full-time position (40+ hours a week). Essential Job Functions: 1. Develop the structure and curriculum for the After-school and Summer Programs for middle and high school students at Common Good. 2. Lead program each day, working with interns and volunteers to implement program in a successful, structured fashion. 3. Build meaningful mentor relationships with students. Regularly spend time with students and their families in the community outside of the program time. 4. Through a Christ-centered approach, encourage daily spiritual growth in the lives of students and families. 5. Enforce Common Good’s discipline policy. Address and manage discipline issues promptly and serve as key mediator/communicator in conveying issues to parents/guardians. 6. Develop objectives and performance measures that address students’ educational, emotional, behavioral, and social growth. Conduct assessments in order to monitor students’ growth and development. 7. Create and maintain a good, working relationship within the school system to better meet the emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of the students of Common Good; includes meeting with students’ teachers and administrators on a regular basis and serving as the liaison between Common Good and the schools our students attend. 8. Manage program within the approved budget. 9. Ensure facilities are clean, organized, and conducive to learning. 10. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students’ parents or guardians. 11. Perform administrative duties as needed to help with the general functioning of Common Good in effort to carry out the mission of the organization. 12. Keep office and program hours from10AM-6:30 PM Monday-Thursday. 13. Outside program hours required. Attending, planning and organizing and evening and weekend activities for students and families. Lead youth trips including a spiritual Youth Retreat in the fall and Aldersgate Camp in the summer. NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following professional qualifications: 1. A strong passion and commitment to mission and outreach in an underserved community. 2. An awareness and understanding of the principles of Christian Community Development and a commitment to live in the community served. 3. A Bachelors degree. Masters degree preferred. 4. Preferred that candidate is bilingual (Spanish and English Speaking). 5. Experience working in an urban setting with students.
