Description/Responsibilities:Niceville UMC: Niceville UMC is a growing church of over 2,700 in attendance during weekend services, split between 2 campuses and 9 weekend worship services. Our vision, and sole passion, is “Connecting People to Christ”, and we do that by “Building a Community where people can Come as they are, Meet Christ, Grow in their Faith, and Find a place to Serve.” We have both contemporary (of various kinds) and traditional worship styles. Position Title: Worship Leader Date: May 1, 2013 Supervisor: Contemporary Music Director/Worship Leader Employment Type: Either Full-time (would include leading worship for the Student Ministry) or Part-time Working Relationships: Works within the structure of the Creative Arts Team, including the Teaching Pastor, Audio/Visual Technicians, Worship Leaders, support staff, and volunteer artists and technicians. Purpose: Lead worship in the 9:30 contemporary worship service, which includes ministering to and leading the people in the 9:30 band rotation. Provide overall leadership to the Youth Worship bands, while also leading when called upon at our Saturday night worship service. Responsibilities: • Provide leadership for 9:30 Contemporary worship service, Student worship bands (if full-time), and leading Saturday “Exchange” worship service when called upon. • Lead weekly rehearsals for the 9:30 worship team and youth bands. • Overseeing (Pastoring) the Worship team(s) included, but not limited to their rehearsals, musical development, commitment to excellence, spiritual growth and development, and teaching philosophy of worship • Continue to recruit, develop, and schedule a volunteer Worship Team(s) by searching out and encouraging those within the Church and in the community with musical gifts. • Champion the vision of Niceville UMC and the Creative Arts ministry. • Available to lead worship for other church events as needed. • Attend weekly worship planning meetings. • Work within a team environment to creatively plan and execute worship elements. • Other duties as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications:Character: Demonstrates the qualities of a follower of Jesus Christ- loving God and loving others, exhibiting a desire to live in relationship with those within the church and without, and is willing to live according to the staff covenant. Qualifications and Skills: • Education: Undergraduate degree in Music/Worship Leading, or at least 4 years’ experience in being a paid Worship Leader. • Experience: o Experience leading teams and ministering to people, not someone just looking to play a weekly gig. o Experience in leading, and relating to, a multi-generational congregation in worship. o Need to be able to play guitar and/or keys while singing and leading. o Demonstrated ability to schedule musicians and put together a worship song set that supports the overall theme of the message and fits together the vocal and instrumental talent available. o Experience leading vocal teams in different vocal parts and the instrumentalists in their parts. o Experience working with youth (if full-time). • Must have a theological mindset that allows discernment on evaluating songs in light of the Gospel. • Must have a humble heart, willing to be “last” as a servant and to hear constructive feedback. • Ability to discern a vision, or grasp a vision, and clearly and effectively communicate it and carry it out with your bands and ministry areas. • Be able to maintain confidences, effectively listen and communicate, and have the ability to resolve conflicts in a productive and God-honoring manner. • Characteristics: Innovative, initiator who sets and achieves goals, team builder, strong verbal and written communication skills, willing to do whatever it takes, team player, & detail oriented. • Requirements: Become a member of Niceville UMC and affirm the vision and direction of Niceville UMC.
