Women’s soccer team to spend break in Bolivia

WILMORE, KY— The Asbury College women’s soccer team is headed to Santa Cruz, Bolivia for spring break, March 15-25. Working with World Gospel Mission, the team is organizing soccer clinics for local high schools, spending time at a local orphanage and providing general relief due to recent flooding in the country.

Just five hours after their arrival on Friday, the Eagles are playing in an exhibition match against an all-star team of area high schools. In all, the schedule features a possible seven-match tournament with time to assist with clinics, relief and sightseeing.

“The whole team is really excited about this opportunity to serve the Lord through playing soccer and working with kids,” said head coach Paul Nesselroade. “Our prayer has been that God would prepare our hearts to minister to all those He brings us in contact with. We want to be ready to hear what He might have to say to each one of us as we see His people working in His name in another culture.”

This is the second mission trip the women’s soccer program has taken under the direction of Dr. Paul Nesselroade, associate professor of psychology. The team served in Scotland after the 2005 season.
