Art professor participates in Indonesian conference
WILMORE, KY—Chris Segre-Lewis, instructor of art at Asbury College, has been selected to participate in Christianity and the Visual Arts in Indonesia. Segre-Lewis is one of eight art professors chosen from Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.
The expenses paid trip is June 8-23. Segre-Lewis will participate in a seminar concerning Christianity in the context of culture, primarily the Indonesian culture. He will also produce personal artwork and collaborate with Christian artists from Indonesia, America and Southeast Asia, which will be part of an international art exhibition.
“I look forward to the fellowship and engagement with top Christian artists from other cultural perspectives,” Segre-Lewis said. “As well as engaging the landscape of the South Pacific in art as I have done with other parts of the world.”
Segre-Lewis paints rural landscapes and teaches drawing, design and painting at Asbury College. He graduated from Asbury College with a B.A. in applied communications in 1998 and received his M.F.A. from the University of Kentucky in 2005.
