Post play leads men to win over IU-East
Asbury relied on three of its big men to lead the team to a 106-80 victory over the visiting Indiana University-East Pioneers. The 106 points was a season-high for Asbury, eclipsing its previous season-high of 102 points, which also came against IU East. Junior Brett Johnson led all scorers with a 28-point performance, while Zach Mefford had 17 points and Brandon Fentress continued his double figures scoring streak with a 16-point effort. It was his fifth straight game scoring in double figures.
The game was a fast-paced affair from the start, which led to plenty of turnovers. Matt Pittman and Derek Bland led the way as they each had four steals. Bland also dished out a game-high 10 assists.
With the win the Eagles improve to 17-7 overall. The next game for Asbury is Tuesday, February 6th when they host Spalding University. Both teams met earlier this year as host Spalding gave Asbury its only conference loss, 84-63. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
