Guards carry men to win over Berea, 78-68
With forwards Brett Johnson and Dusty Riedesel sitting on the bench in foul trouble, Asbury leaned upon freshman Brian Johnson in the first half, and Derek Bland in the second to keep themselves on top of the KIAC standings. Johnson scored all of his 13 points in the first half, thanks to 6-of-7 shooting from the field, including the Eagles lone three-pointer of the half. His job done, Bland would finish off the Mountaineers with 15 points, all in the second half. Bland shot 4-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc as well as 4-of-5 from the line. The pair comprised two of the five Eagles to finish in double digits. Brandon Fentress scored 11 points, his third straight in doubles off the bench. Dusty Riedesel contributed 12, while Michael Spann scored 12 also, sealing the game at the free throw line sinking 8-of-10 down the stretch.
With the win, Asbury improves to 15-7 overall, 3-1 in conference play as they head into another showdown on Tuesday, January 30th, hosting the Grenadiers of Indiana-Southeast.
