Miller Center for Communication Arts was officially announced at a ground breaking complete with shovels, hard hats and hundreds of cheering alumni. That evening, an exciting event in Hughes Auditorium, highlighted by a stirring message from Dean Jones, kicked off the public phase of the fund raising campaign, Building Windows of Opportunity, for the Center's construction. Alumni from Communication Arts were among the many alums who participated in this special reunion that ran from June 25-28. The response to the new building by all alumni who were here was overwhelmingly positive and they agreed that the new space will allow the College to advance the mission of Communication Arts.

At Asbury College, we see our students as windows of opportunity for Christ-centered service and leadership in many of the world’s most influential industries. The School for Communication Arts continues to change and grow as our students are challenged to think creatively and critically about delivering God’s message of love to diverse audiences. Communication Arts students learn to tell compelling stories truthfully and effectively because that ability is more than a desirable skill, it is a responsibility.

Actor Dean Jones ’53 and his wife, Lory.Today more than 310 students are majoring in journalism, communications, media communication, and theatre and cinema performance. The school also offers minors in leadership, public relations, and theatre and cinema performance. Asbury College is constructing a state-of-the-art facility to match the caliber and number of students we are attracting through these rapidly growing programs.

The groundbreaking kicked off the public phase of the Building Windows of Opportunity Andrew S. Millercampaign. Former Disney actor Dean Jones ’53 and his wife, Lory, are serving as honorary campaign co-chairs. Jones' distinguished career in movies, television and theatre gives him great insight into the industry and knows first-hand of the need of Christians to work in it and bring the love of Christ to many who know little about Him.

The new facility will be named in honor of Asbury College Alumnus, former Board of Trustees member and retired Salvation Army Commissioner, Andrew S. Miller, known as a model communicator and servant to God and man.
