Senior Night at Alice Lloyd too much for women's basketball to overcome
Pippa Passes, KY - Asbury's attempt to ruin Senior Night at Alice Lloyd came up short like many Eagles shots as Asbury struggled from the field, shooting 17-of-67 for the night, 25.4 percent. The Eagles started well, racing out to a 12-5 lead but the Golden Eagles would answer, pushing to a 25-19 lead thanks to a 20-7 run fueled by three-point shooting. Making the comeback even more of a challenge, Asbury committed the first seven fouls of the half, putting Alice Lloyd in the bonus with just under 12 minutes left in the first half. Asbury would make a run before halftime, cutting the deficit to five, but another push by Alice Lloyd in the second half gave them their biggest lead, 71-51 with nine minutes remaining, allowing them to coast to the 82-64 finish.
The Eagles were led by Brittany Abbott and Lindsey Wood with 13 points each while Lauren Lee registered seven assists and Anna Stephenson recorded seven rebounds. Alice Lloyd was led by Nicole Lutes with 18 points.
The loss drops Asbury to 3-5 in the KIAC, 11-14 overall. The Eagles travel to St. Louis to face STLCOP on Saturday before Senior Night against Midway College on Tuesday, Thursday, February 21st.
