Swimming & Diving finishes second in Asbury Invitational

Wilmore, Ky. - Asbury suffered their first defeat for the season in men's and women's competition at their home pool last Saturday, coming up short against the University of the Cumberlands but defeating Union, Berea, and Campbellsville.

The women's 927 points came up 36 points shy of Cumberlands' 963 while the men were defeated by the Patriots, 1,168 to 698. Asbury earned three first-place finishes with Abigail Sterneman earning two of the firsts in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events. Sterneman posted a 1:12.28 in the 100-yard and a time of 2:33.15 in the 200-yard. She was joined by Matt Hood who captured the 100-yard freestyle in a time of :49.29.

The meet concluded the 2007 portion of the season with the team set to re-enter the pool on Friday & Saturday, January 11 & 12 at the Colonel Classic, hosted by Centre College in Danville, Ky.
