Baseball field a work in progress

home plate viewAlthough first pitch isn't until February 15, Asbury College baseball is showing signs of life on its field. Improvements include painted dugouts, development of the infield, and a retaining wall along the length of the backstop between both dugouts.

"The progress made to date has been amazing and we expect the projects to finish in time for practice and scrimmages in the fall," said baseball head coach, Lee Rogers.

Tasks still to be completed, including finishing the surfacing of the infield, straightening and strengthening the fence in along the perimeter of the field, as well as depositing fine sand and gravel to complete the look along the backstop. Gravel will also be added for seating areas around the backstop with a final project of a windscreen to be added in center field to provide a backdrop for hitters in the spring.

The team will host an Alumni baseball game during Homecoming festivities on the weekend of October 5-6. Interested alumni players should contact head coach, Lee Rogers about participating in the game. Also, any and all help for the field in terms of manual labor is needed to complete work for the field. Rogers can be reached via email at lee.rogers@asbury.edu.
