Academic Facts
Founded in 1890, Asbury College is in its second century of providing students with a rigorous Christ-centered education. The fully accredited College annually enrolls a diverse student body of approximately 1,200 scholars in more than 44 undergraduate degrees and graduate programs in special education, secondary education and teaching English as a second language.
Eighty percent of the full-time faculty members hold an earned terminal degree in their field, and the average class size is 16. U.S. News & World Report's annual rankings place Asbury College fourth out of 104 comprehensive colleges in the South in the 2006 edition of America's Best Colleges. In addition, Asbury College and the College's leadership program were listed in The Templeton Guide: Colleges that Encourage Character Development.
The College's undergraduate students come from more than 47 states and 11 nations. Because the College is primarily a residential campus, this diversity offers unique opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, and students often take their learning off campus - seven out of 10 participate in some form of community service.
Many study-abroad programs and short-term missions trips can take students around the world. Asbury College is represented by more than 20,000 living alumni in all 50 of the United States and at least 70 countries. Today, Asbury College remains deeply committed to its original mission of training young people for their life work from an evangelical Christian perspective in the Wesleyan-Arminian Holiness tradition.
