Circulation Desk
Checking out books
The Circulation Desk at Kinlaw Library is the place where books, media items, and reserve items are checked out and checked in. Books, reserve items, media center items, and any other materials checked out of the library must be returned to the Circulation Desk on or before their due date. Fines are paid and items can be renewed at the Circulation Desk.
Group Study Rooms
There are thirteen study rooms located in the library. Three large rooms with a table and eight chairs are on the third floor in the front, four medium rooms with a table and four chairs are on the third floor in the rear of the library, and six small rooms with one or two chairs are on the third floor in the rear of the library. The library’s wireless network is accessible from all the group study rooms for Asbury University students, faculty, and staff. Please check our full Study Room Policy for more information.
Seminary Check Out
Students, Faculty and Staff of Asbury University can go to the B.L. Fisher Library at Asbury Seminary to check out items. Check the Seminary online catalog
Borrowing from Other Libraries
Students may also borrow books from the University of Kentucky Young Library with their Asbury University ID card. Ask at the Young Library Circulation Desk about their borrowing policies. Our students may also borrow materials directly at other college and univeristy campuses as well, such as Transylvania Univeristy, Centre College, Berea College, and other schools across the state. We can also perform this service for you through InterLibrary Loan.
Reserves
Faculty that require their students to read or to listen to a particular item may have that item placed on Reserve by a Circulation Supervisor. Then the student may come to the Desk and check out the Reserve item for the allotted amount of time. If the item on Reserve is an audio CD, video or other media item, the student can go to the Media Center to view or listen to it. Faculty may fill out this form and send it to the Circulation Desk.
Copiers and New Book Display
There are other services located in the Circulation Area that are beneficial to patrons. Two copiers (one of them color!) are available for a reasonable rate. New books being added to our collection are available for perusal on a display in front of the Circulation Desk.
