Checking Out Materials

The Circulation Desk at Kinlaw Library is the place where books and media items are checked out and checked in.  All current Asbury University students, faculty, and staff are allowed to borrow materials, but must register for an account the first time materials are borrowed.  Residents of Jessamine County may also borrow materials by acquiring a community borrower card -- the cost for residents not affiliated with the University is $10/year for those aged 18-54 and $5/year for those aged 55 and over.

Renewing Materials

Checked out items can be renewed in person at the Circulation Desk, over the phone at 859-858-3511, x2265, or online by following the instructions here.

Seminary Library Materials

Current students, faculty, and staff of Asbury University can go to the B.L. Fisher Library at Asbury Seminary to borrow materials, but need to first have a registered account at the Kinlaw Library. Check the Seminary online catalog

Borrowing from Other Libraries

Students, faculty, and staff may use their Asbury University ID card to directly borrow materials from the libraries of other Kentucky academic institutions, including the University of Kentucky, Transylvania University, Centre College, and other schools across the state.   Additionally, materials can be requested to be mailed from other libraries to Asbury through the InterLibrary Loan service.

Faculty that require their students to read or to listen to a particular item may have that item placed on Reserve at the Circulation Desk.  Faculty needing to place materials on reserve may fill out this form and send it to the Circulation Supervisor.

The Kinlaw Library provides two photocopiers (one of them color), with charges as low as $0.05/page for black and white copies and $0.20/page for color copies.  A variety of colors are available in regular paper and cardstock.

The Kinlaw Library sells coffee, tea, and snacks at the Hiccup Too! coffee cart.  Payment may be made at the Circulation Desk, which accepts cash, checks, and credit/debit cards.

Internet Access

The library’s wireless network is accessible throughout the Kinlaw Library.  Campus visitors over the age of 18 may request guest access to the network, and may use their own devices or a designated computer near the Circulation Desk.  Campus visitors who wish to print may do so at the cost of $0.10/page for black and white copies, $0.25/page for color copies.

Group Study Rooms

There are thirteen study rooms located in the library: three large rooms for 8+ people, four medium rooms for 4+ people, and six small rooms for 1-2 people.  The large and medium rooms are locked, with keys available upon request at the Circulation Desk.  The large and medium rooms may be reserved by calling 859-858-3511, x2265, while the small rooms are first come, first served.  Although current students, faculty, and staff have priority for using these rooms, other groups may request to use the rooms.  Please see the Study Room Policy for more information.

Large Meeting Rooms

There are two meeting rooms in the Kinlaw Library; the Board Room for 40+ people, and the Conference Room 14+ people.  When not reserved for campus use, these rooms are available for community use, at a rate of $40 for the Board Room and $20 for the Conference Room.  To inquire about using these rooms, please contact the Office of the Library Director at 859-858-3511, x2143.
