Sue StevensonPersonal and Educational Background

I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio to two schoolteachers.  They inspired a passion for books and knowledge as well as a love of travel in our family. I attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in French.  After teaching for three years, I married my high-school sweetheart, Craig Stevenson and we moved to Colorado and after a few years, began our family.  In late 1989, we moved back to Kentucky and have planted our roots here.   We still take time to travel around the U.S. and the world in order to see our children - as they travel, former student workers, old friends and to make new friends.

 Professional Background

At Malone College, I was a student assistant in the library and found that it was a wonderful place to work.  After graduating from Malone College in Ohio, I taught school as a substitute teacher for one year and then taught for two years in a Christian school.  Before our children arrived, I worked for different companies in various roles in Colorado.  Also, both in Colorado and Kentucky, I volunteered in every elementary school library that my children attended. In 1993 as I considered going back to work, I was a substitute teacher for a short time, but really desired work in a library setting.   In 1994 I was blessed with a part-time library job in Archives at the Morrison - Kenyon Library here at Asbury.  My job became full-time in 1995 as I worked in Technical Services as well.  After a few years I moved into the Circulation Supervisor position and have been here ever since.  Being at the Circulation Desk gives me the opportunity to hire and work with some spectacular student assistants along with the ability to get acquainted with many faculty, staff, students and visitors as they use the library facility.

 Family

My husband, Craig and I have been married since 1976 and have two grown children.  Craig works for Lexmark as an electrical engineer.  Both of our children graduated from Asbury University.  Our daughter, Krista lived in China for six years, returned in 2009 and now teaches at the University of Kentucky in the ESL program.   Our son, Joshua is married to Megan and they live in Peachtree City, Georgia.  Our enitre family enjoys spending time together playing games, traveling other places, eating out, watching movies and of course, doing lots of reading!
