Tenure Track Literacy Education
POSITION: Full-time, tenure-track position beginning August 2014
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Literacy/Reading Education and public school teaching experience in literacy/reading instruction. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with on-line instruction. Knowledge of children’s literature and its role in instruction is necessary. Experience working with diverse student populations and the ability to prepare undergraduate and graduate students to work with diverse populations is required. Candidates must possess significant technology skills and demonstrate the ability to work in a university/public school partnership model for clinical teacher preparation. The potential for or establishment of a record of scholarship, research, and publication is expected. Candidates should be able to successfully participate in grant writing in the area of teacher education in the field of literacy education.

ACADEMIC RANK: Dependent on qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidates will be expected to: teach literacy/reading courses in the undergraduate teacher preparation programs and graduate courses at the masters level; teach literacy/reading course work in on-line courses; advise students; supervise student clinical work in the public schools; conduct research and scholarly activities in area of expertise; serve on university, school and program committees.
COMPENSATION: Compensation is competitive and dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include retirement (TIAA/CREF) and insurance plans.
EDUCATIONAL UNIT: The unit is NCATE and state accredited offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Undergraduate certification areas include: elementary, middle school, secondary, and P-12. Graduate certification areas are: special education, English as a second language, Literacy/reading/writing, and offerings via alternative certification routes.
