Asbury Alum Writes Theatrically Released Film

If you’re a follower of Asbury University news (Web, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), you know that at 7:30 p.m. on the Friday of Mother’s Day weekend, two noteworthy Asbury events occurred.

1.) The members of the Class of 2014 processed into Hughes Auditorium for Baccalaureate services marking the end of their undergraduate careers.

2.) An alumna in California was watching the fruit of her college career — and the work and education that have filled the years since — flicker to life on theater screens nationwide.

Because of the grand focus on the first event, we want to take a second to share even more on the second:

Asbury University Media Communication
Andrea Gyertson Nasfell and her family at the premiere for MOM'S NIGHT OUT. Brady Nasfell is a producer at Sodium Entertainment.

“Moms' Night Out,” a family comedy and faith-based film still in theaters across the nation today, was written by Andrea Gyertson Nasfell, a 1995 Asbury graduate. Though her movies “Christmas with a Capital C,” “What If…” and “Christmas Angel” are television holiday staples, “Moms' Night Out” is her first theatrically released film.

Through the years, Andrea and her husband, Brady, have stayed involved with Asbury both on campus — Andrea served as a judge and workshop presenter for this year’s Highbridge Film Festival, for example — as well as hosting alumni gatherings at their home in California. Congratulations on a significant achievement!
