Nature declares the wonders of God! My goal is to instill in students a love of science so they realize that God’s Book of Nature along with His Written Word completes their understanding of the Christian faith.
Professional Interests
I have taught grade school, high school, night school, and
summer school -- and now it is a privilege to teach on the college level. Making
complex ideas understandable, finding new and interesting ways to present a
topic, both in print and in the classroom, are my professional goals.
I especially enjoy labs because of the one-on-one interaction. I have revised lab manuals for many of the biology courses, most recently Plant Taxonomy and Environmental Science, my special areas of interest. Over the past 8 years I have developed a program which provides laboratory experiences here on the Asbury campus for home-schooled students
Personal Interests
I am fortunate to be married to Dr. Ben Witherington,
an internationally known biblical scholar.
We have traveled to 13 countries.
Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, being on
safari in Kruger National
Park, admiring the birch trees in Russia,
picking pomegranates in Turkey–all
these activities can be shared in the classroom. Being a botanist I also enjoy gardening, and
I am currently relandscaping our home in Lexington
with native plants.
