Jon Roller
Instructor
Dr. Jon Roller teaches Music Appreciation and Orchestration and heads up the chapel music program. This is his eleventh year teaching and his fourth year heading up chapel music. He is interested in and loves virtually all types of music but has a special interest in contemporary Christian music and world music. He is very active in music, drama, and discipleship at Quest Community Church in Lexington.
Jon's Ph.D. is in Music Theory from the University of Kentucky (1996) and his Master's is from Southern Methodist University in Orchestral Conducting (1985). He has an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Asbury College (1983). He has been the music director of the Lexington Community Orchestra, the Denton Chamber Orchestra, the Denton Community Orchestra, and is currently the conductor of the Kentucky Ballet Theatre Orchestra. He has also conducted numerous opera and ballet productions.
Jon loves teaching but his primary interest is in the spiritual life of his students. Below is a self portrait of Jon in front of some of his record collection.
