Collegium Musicum – Instrumental Chamber Groups

Some of the most rewarding and challenging music making comes from being part of a chamber group, a smaller ensemble requiring one player per part.

The title of Collegium Musicum is a general term under which all chamber ensembles function, both instrumental and vocal.  Instrumental combinations vary each semester, as chamber groups are formed according to student interest. The following ensembles are representative of those that meet on a regular basis.

These ensembles can be a small as a trio or quartet, or as large as 10 players. So, String Ensemble means both a combined, small string orchestra, as well as string quartets and trios.

  • Brass Ensemble
  • Flute Choir
  • Guitar Ensemble
  • Percussion Ensemble
  • String Ensemble

These groups present multiple concerts both on and off campus each year. Additional, mixed instrument ensembles may also be formed according to current interest. Membership is by audition within the first few days of the Fall Semester and/or as openings occur throughout the year.
