Collegium Musicum - Instrumental Chamber Groups
Some of the most rewarding and challenging music making comes from being part of a chamber group, a smaller ensemble requiring one player per part. The title of Collegium Musicum is a general term under which all chamber ensembles function, both instrumental and vocal. Instrumental combinations vary each semester, as chamber groups are formed according to student interest. The following ensembles are representative of those that meet on a regular basis.
Brass Ensemble
Flute Choir
Guitar Ensemble
Percussion Ensemble
String Quartet, String Trio, and/or String Ensemble
These groups present multiple concerts both on and off campus each year. Additional, mixed instrument ensembles may also be formed according to current interest. Membership is by audition within the first few days of the Fall Semester and/or as openings occur throughout the year.
Collegium Musicum - Vocal Ensemble
The Collegium Musicum Vocal Ensemble is an a cappella chamber choir comprised of 18 singers. While the focus of the repertoire is the choral music of the Renaissance, established masterpieces of all periods, as well as new works, are performed. The Vocal Ensemble supplements its on-campus performance schedule with occasional off-campus events and international tours. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Vicki Bell.
