About The Department
Teaching at Asbury College takes place within the ambience of the classical liberal arts tradition, the "great conversation." Yet what makes this great conversation even greater, what gives its variety, its creative reach, its depth of expression and its resonance, its life and fullness—its real humanity—is the truth of Christianity.
It is a rich reward indeed to know that at any given moment in or out of class a routine conversation about literature, philosophy, history or science can quickly become a kind of poetry of adoration and praise: "For wonderful indeed are all his works / Pleasant to know, and worthiest to be all / Had in remembrance."
