Education Candidates participate in a variety of service opportunities. All education majors complete a minimum requirement of 20 service learning hours. The following are some illustrations of service learning.
Teacher Educators for Learning and Leading Service Project
Each year TELL does a service learning project. Last year TELL purchased a number of books to provide a book for each child at an elementary school.
ED220 Technology in Education Service Project
For the last four years, ED220 students have collaborated with public school teachers in preparing webquests and interactive Powerpoints for the teachers’ units. The authentic experience has given the students their first insight into the need for meeting state education standards. The completed projects are, in turn, given to the teachers for their use and in appreciation for the collaboration opportunities.
