Cross Cultural
The Education Department offers experiences for cross cultural teaching. Students may have experiences in urban areas or overseas settings, and participate in mission opportunities through multiple organizations.
An elementary education major who, together with a secondary education major, received an Asbury Initiative Grant to return to her home country of Myanmar in summer 2006 provides English instruction for children at an orphanage. Along with ED 393 Cross Cultural Teaching, urban field experiences, and the option of overseas student teaching, Asbury education majors take advantage of a variety of cross-cultural service learning opportunities through Asbury Initiative Grants and various trips with mission agencies (e.g. OMS, WGM, and SEND).
