The Asbury College Roy L. Lauter Servant Leadership Award

The Servant Leadership Award program recognizes four students each year for their service and ministry to both the local community and to Asbury College. Students are recognized publicly in the spring of each year in an all-campus awards chapel. Each recipient receives a $750 award and directs a $250 award to the charity or service agency of their choice. Funding is partially provided by the Barney II and Moore Foundations. Award recipients are chosen by a selection committee that is made up of faculty, staff and students. Asbury College has been presenting this award since 2000 .

Selection Process: Nominations are sought from Junior class students, faculty, student development staff, and Junior class Advisors. A nomination form is completed by any of the above mentioned groups. Nominees are then sent an autobiographical form to complete and return. Selection committee members review nominations and autobiographical information, as well as co-curricular transcripts of leadership development activities. The Committee individually ranks nominees, then meets to make final decision.

Selection Criteria: In order to be considered, students must be Juniors, have a minimum cumulative g.p.a. of 2.7 and be involved over a sustained period of time in volunteerism during their first three years at Asbury. Consideration is also given to the intentional participation in their own leadership development during their time at Asbury. Students should be in good standing with regard to the Office of Student Development.
