Acting Camp
Asbury welcomes back students who loved Acting I with a new class – Acting II – taking acting to the next level. New to Impact U? Welcome! We would love to have you for the first or both weeks of Acting camp!
Acting I
During this five-day camp, you will focus on the fundamentals of good acting for both stage and film, learn from Asbury faculty, and develop friendships with other campers, all while having a blast!
Acting II
During this five-day camp, you will dive deeper into the world of camera acting, learn from Asbury faculty, and develop or continue friendships with other campers, all while having a blast!
Camp Dates:
Acting I: Monday – Friday, June 3-7, 2024
Acting II: Monday – Friday, June 10-14, 2024

Cost:
The camp is $550 per person, and includes food, lodging, and all expenses.
What You Can Expect:
Experience beginning acting training that focuses on truthful acting for stage and camera.- Discover the differences between acting on stage and acting for the camera.
- Learn how to work collaboratively with other actors while applying instruction toward a show case for the end of the week.
- Receive individual coaching and feedback from camera work to theatre scene work.
About Your Instructors:
Carol Anderson is an award winning professional actress, a seasoned director and excels at teaching acting for camera and stage for high school and college students. She’s started her career with a one woman show on the subject of eating disorders that aired on PBS. Carol toured nationally with that show performing and speaking at over 60 colleges and universities. She is also Artistic Director of the theatre company Acts of Renewal that has performed for audiences internationally including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in Israel. Most recently she wrote original material, directed and performed for Revive Our Hearts which livestreamed to over 400,000 globally. Carol has performed in TV shows such as Hap & Leonard, coached actors for projects like the Emmy Award winning “Orchard House” and appeared in films and voice overs in radio shows and animation. She earned her MFA in Acting from UNC Chapel Hill and is starting her 7th year teaching acting and directing shows at Asbury University.
Dr. Jim Shores is Program Director for Communications at Asbury University. He’s also an award winning screenwriter and a playwright for Acts of Renewal Theatre Company. His most recent work, Viking Summer, will premiere Summer 2022 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. And recently Asbury staged the world premiere of his play Take No Prisoners! which the Kennedy Center College Theatre Festival Judges reviewed as, “An epic breath of fresh air! So much fun!” Jim and his wife Carol Anderson regularly take students to study acting at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. As a writer, actor and instructor, Jim greatly enjoys encouraging young actors along their journey.
