Middle and Secondary Education in Education

POSITION:

Full-time tenure track position in Middle and Secondary Education for Fall 2008.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in middle and secondary education. Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred. Especially interested in candidates who have a wide range of skills in middle, secondary, and general education. Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate students. Members of diverse cultures are welcome at Asbury College.

 

INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT:

Candidates must give evidence of an evangelical Christian commitment, and be in harmony with the College's Statement of Faith and Mission.

 

ACADEMIC RANK:

Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach and advise middle and secondary undergraduate and graduate programs. Coordinate undergraduate middle and secondary programs and guide graduate secondary alternative certification recruitment, advising, mentoring, and program planning and development with related committee assignments.

 

COMPENSATION:

Compensation is competitive and dependent upon education and experience. Benefits include retirement (TIAA/CREF) and insurance plans.

 

EDUCATION UNIT:

The unit is NCATE and state accredited offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Undergraduate certification areas include: elementary, middle school, secondary, and P-12. Graduate certification areas are: special education, English as a second language, reading/writing, and offerings via alternative certification routes. There are eight full-time faculty members currently in the department.
