GPS MAP Services
The School of Graduate and Professional Studies My Achievement Pathway (MAP) Services serve as a unique function of the commitment of Asbury University by providing exceptional care for graduate and undergraduate adult students.
From inquiry to graduation, GPS MAPS coordinates all aspects of student support.
Application and Enrollment: During the enrollment process, GPS MAPS helps the incoming student gather & track documentation required for admissions. Using a co-advising model, GPS MAPS helps to identify credits from other institutions and experiences of prior learning for transfer to Asbury University.
Degree Progress: In cooperation with the academic departments and schools, GPS MAPS helps students create and maintain co-advising plans to support progress toward degree requirements. GPS MAPS works along-side all University support offices - such as the Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Registrar Offices - to help meet the adult student's needs in these areas.
Academic Co-Advising: One of the most important roles of GPS MAPS is working with individual Students to develop an academic plan that balances the rigor of completing an academic degree with the busy adult student’s personal and professional responsibilities. The student’s co-advising plan dynamically maps the way to graduation by organizing his/her course schedule.
A model for student success
Dr. Melanie Kierstead, GPS MAPS Director - "We really care about students at Asbury University. One way we show care is by providing a point-of-contact for all student needs. One student recently described GPS MAPS as an 'academic concierge service,' the 'go to' place that anticipates concerns and issues of graduate and undergraduate adult students and streamlines all the support services available to them."
