Luce Center Facilities
Here at the Luce Center we have six main facilities:
The natatorium is most likely the busiest area of the Luce Center. The eight lane Olympic size pool is where the Asbury College swim team practices and holds their swim meets. It is also where local swim clubs hold their practices. There are water aerobics classes that are offered throughout the year as well as open swim times during the day where our community members can utilize the pool for lap swim purposes or just to play around in the water.
The main gym consists of three full size basketball and volleyball courts and one competition basketball and volleyball court. Asbury's men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball teams have their home games here. Also, different intramural activities are held in the main gym. Throughout the day there are open gym times where students and community members can utilize the courts.
The weight room , with its 13 Cybex Systems, 17 free weight stations, 2,500 lbs. of free weights, and 80 dumbells is great for the avid and the beginner lifter alike. The recently added cardio section with its five treadmills, four ellipticals, and two recumbent bikes makes it easy to stay in shape or get in shape. The two LCD TVs allow you to keep up with the big game/latest news in between sets or while breaking a sweat on the treadmill or elliptical.
The multi-purpose room is a versa turf surface that has a multitude of uses. The 93' x 53' floor makes an adequate field for indoor soccer and since it is equipped with a batting cage that lowers from the ceiling, you may find Asbury's baseball team taking batting practice in the winter months. With its 18 foot high ceiling, the auxiliary gym is great for Asbury's tennis team to have practice when its too cold to go outside and for the tumbling team to practice their routines.
The Luce Center has four racquetball courts that offer a professional feel to a very popular game. Equipment is available to rent if you do not have your own. Each court is also equipped with the capabilities to set up a "wallyball" net.
The indoor track can be found in the main gym and can be used for walking or running anytime of the year. On the indoor track, nine laps equals one mile. The surface of the track is the same Versa Turf that can be found in the multi-purpose room.
