Engaging Culture Weekend: Seminars
Asbury College students and others interested in pursuing careers in the film industry are welcome to attend interactive seminars with our special guests from Hollywood. As students learn from those on the forefront of the industry, Q & A sessions will provide meaningful discussions at Asbury's Engaging Culture Weekend.

Friday, April 25, 2008
10:00-11:00 a.m. || Erik Lokkesmoe, with DIFFERENT DRUMMER, shares in student chapel. Location: Hughes Memorial Auditorium.
11:00-12:00 p.m. || Clayton Ferguson discusses his approach to "Marketing Movies that Matter". Location: Corbitt Hall 102.
Ferguson directed key marketing initiatives for “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe”, “Hoot”, “Charlotte’s Web”, and “Amazing Grace”. In 2007 Ferguson moved to Becker Group, an experiential marketing company. Clayton produced the promotional tour for Disney/Pixar’s “Ratatouille” and is now producing “The Chronicles of Narnia – The Exhibit” opening in June 2008.
12:00-1:00 p.m. || Luncheon Workshop: Filmmaking Bring your tray to the Grey Room at the cafeteria and enjoy lunch and conversation with Rick Eldridge.
Since 2000, Rick has produced 20 projects. His latest film currently in production, “Running the Sahara”, stars Matt Damon. He also produced The Ultimate Gift in 2006 (starring James Garner), Lost: A Sheep Story in 2006 (starring Amy Grant, Vince Gill and Randy Travis), Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius in 2004 (starring Jim Caviezel), quite a few of the Hermie & Friends video series starring Tim Conway and Don Knotts as well as many other projects.
1:00-2:00 p.m. || May-Lynn Chang presents "How Stories Connect People and Walden Media's Second Bottom Line." Location: Corbitt Hall 102.
May-Lynn Chang is the Strategic Marketing Director for Walden Media, the Hollywood film company that produced “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”, “Charlottes Web” and “Amazing Grace.”
2:00-3:00 p.m. || Erik Lokkesmoe shares his philosophy on "What It Takes to Create, Produce, Market, and Distribute a Story Today." Location: Corbitt Hall.
Erik Lokkesmoe is the founder and managing partner of DIFFERENT DRUMMER, a social good media and marketing firm. Erik recently left AFG/Walden Media/Bristol Bay Productions where he served as the VP of Strategic Partnership and Outreach.
3:00-5:00 p.m. || Bruce Broughton leads a session on "Film Scoring: Writing Music for Film." Location: Reasoner Hall, Room 214.
Broughton has written the scores for major motion pictures such as “Lost in Space”, “Young Sherlock Holmes” and “Bambi II.” His television credits include the main themes for “Jag”, Steven Spielberg’s “Tiny Ton Adventures”, “Dallas” and “Hawaii Five-O.”
