Student Soloists Featured in Spring Classics Concert

Four students will be performing in the Asbury College Music Department's Spring Classics Concert April 24, at 7:30 PM in Hughes Auditorium.

Piano Soloist: Chan-mi Jean came to Asbury College from Xi’an Shannxi, China, though her homeland is Korea. As freshman music major she has distinguished herself by winning both keyboard competitions at the college, the Peniston Honors and the Concerto competition. She is a student of Dr. Donald Zent.

Clarinet Soloist: Kristy Nevil, a senior, is originally from Nicholasville, and now resides in Garrard County. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education, with hopes of becoming a Middle--High School Band Director. Throughout her college career she has had many wonderful Clarinet teachers, including: Laura Gregory, Roger Hott, Ronald Monsen, Adria Dowd, and currently, Greg Stepp. Next year she will be student teaching, and then, on to full-time teaching.

Soprano Duetist: Megan Parker is a junior music education major from Portsmouth, Ohio. She studies voice under Dr. Beatrice Holz, and also plays horn in the Asbury Orchestra. She plans to pursue a Masters Degree in Opera performance. She has been accepted into the summer 2008 vocal program (concert and opera experiences) of the American Institute of Musical Studies, Graz, Austria.

Soprano Duetist: Kristen Elisa Reynolds is a senior vocal performance major from Billings, Montana. She is the student of Professor Virginia Bowles. She looks forward to doing her masters in choral conducting beginning June of '08 and hopes to study abroad in the future.
