Home for the HOLIDAZE?

FINANCES...

  • The Holiday Season is a time of sharing, not overextending. Avoid the temptation to impress others with expensive gifts. You won't be loved any less by doing something special for others instead--AND, you won't feel guilty and overwhelmed afterward when the bills arrive!
  • Try using cash only for purchases
  • If you're worried about spending too much money, enjoy holiday ‘freebies' like window shopping, cooking, playing in the snow, or looking at decorations
  • You can show love and caring by getting something that you know is meaningful and personal that doesn't have to cost a lot
  • Watch favorite old holiday season classics - "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "A Christmas Carol," or the old standby "It's a Wonderful Life." Check your local listings, many of these are on television multiple times during the season
  • Concern for the less fortunate is heightened during the holiday season. You will be asked to contribute to worthy causes, and you may be put in the position of feeling both touched and manipulated. Recognize your limitations to avoid feeling guilty for not responding to every request. Consider volunteering your time, rather than making a monetary donation
