Counseling

About confidentiality in your counseling session...

By law (HIPAA) and ethical standards, what is shared with your counselor will be held in confidence, unless you give your counselor written permission to share with others. This is always the case except for incidents of suspected child and/or elder abuse, or when you present a serious danger to yourself or others. In the extremely unlikely event, records can be requested through a court order. You will be asked to sign a specific release form before any communication is given to parties outside the Center for Counseling.
