About Worship Arts
The Worship Arts major began at Asbury University in 2008. There is a strong sense of community among the majors and the environment is supportive and encouraging. Students love being with each other and often get together to jam or just to hang out. Many of our students are involved in the worship arts in their local churches as well as University activities like worship nights, WHAM (Worship Him At Midnight), and, of course, the chapel bands. The chapel bands have excellent equipment, such as a Yamaha Motif and Korg M3 and M50 keyboards, a nice guitar pedal board, Mesa cabinets, and Dr. Z and Egnater heads. There are several large churches in the Lexington area that are in the forefront of using the worship arts to communicate the gospel, and many of our students are involved with the arts in these churches. The arts leaders in a number of these churches are Asbury graduates. Many of our majors are also involved with Ichthus, a Christian rock festival on the outskirts of town.
