The Communications major at Asbury University emphasizes experiential learning to include frequent trips to major communication hubs in the USA and abroad. Students are encouraged to take seminar classes that tour New York City, Washington D.C., and an upcoming trip to Europe. Tour classes include learning opportunities like visiting international public relations firms Ogilvy and Edelman in New York, as well as better understanding the media with back stage tours of CBS, NBC and CNN. Intermixed with the educational benefits are social and cultural highlights such as eating at the United Nations, visiting the David Letterman and Saturday Night Live shows, as well as visiting tourist locations like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller plaza, shows on Broadway, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Ground Zero in New York. Leadership emphasis students are encouraged to participate in seminars to Washington D.C., visiting the White House, U.S. Congress, the Pentagon, Smithsonian museums and many other historic monuments.
