Women's Tennis Blanks Alice Lloyd for 2-0 Start
PIPPA PASSES, Ky. - For the second time in as many days the women's tennis team return home winners of a match.
On Friday the Eagles opened their season at Shawnee State, meeting little resistance on their way to a 9-0 win. On Saturday, the Eagles continued their play.
Each of head coach Jarred Miller's competitors garnered wins in the same positions from the day before-- Alex LoPrinzi, Sarah Beth Alford, Laura Ross, Kara Kaneko, and Mary Sparks received the nods for the 1-5 spots. They lost just just seven sets in singles matches, going a combined 60-7 on the afternoon.
In the sixth match, Caitlin Brock was awarded the win by default, as the host Alice Lloyd had no competitor for the spot.
In the doubles sets, the Eagles' success continued. The duos of Ross-Alford, LoPrinzi-Sparks, and Miriam Waslewski-Juleah Morehouse improved their records to 2-0 as pairs for the season as well. Ross-Alford won 8-1 and LoPrinzi-Sparks took an 8-2 decision. Waslewski-Morehouse won by default.
The Eagles will compete in their first home match of the season on Monday as they welcome Hanover College to Wilmore. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
