Amis Named NAIA Scholar Athlete
Asbury senior Morgan Amis was named Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Tennis Scholar Athlete by the association on Friday. Amis was the lone member on the team from the Eagles and one of nine from the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to receive the honor.
Amis, from Clinton, Miss., completed her career in the fall with a 35-27 overall record including an 8-3 mark this year. The Eagles finished the season with an 11-3 record, the third consecutive double-digit win season, and a second place finish in the KIAC.
During her tenure the squad won a program-best 45 matches including a trip to the 2011 NCCAA National Tournament. Amis graduated earlier this month with a degree in Communications.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
