Women's Tennis Falls in KIAC Championship

RICHMOND, Ind. – Asbury women’s tennis made it to the KIAC Tournament Championship for the second time in three years but just like 2010 fell to Indiana Southeast, this time 5-1 on Saturday. Asbury defeated Brescia 5-3 earlier in the day to advance to the finals.
Asbury finishes the fall season at 11-3 with two of their three losses coming at the hands of the Grenadiers. The Eagles were second in the KIAC regular season for the third straight year.
The only win against the Grenadiers on Saturday was at number one doubles as Shelby Gilles and Jordan Myers defeated Katie Walsh and Katherine Clark 8-6. IUS took the other two doubles matches and three singles matches before the match was called.
Against Brescia the Eagles again took the top doubles match with Gilles/Myers and also took number three doubles as Morgan Amis and Estelle Withrow won 8-0. Sarah Marshall, Morgan Amis and Izzy Howell all won in singles competition.
Amis and Gilles finish the fall with eight singles wins each, tied for the team lead. In doubles the duos of Howell/Marshall and Gilles/Myers both finished at 7-4 while Amis and Gilles each won nine doubles matches on their own.
