Women's Tennis Advances in KIAC Tournament

Sarah MarshallRICHMOND, Ind. – Asbury women’s tennis advanced to the KIAC semifinals for the fifth straight year on Friday behind a 5-2 win over Midway.  The 2012 KIAC Tournament is being hosted by Indiana East.

The Eagles advance to the semifinals to play Bresica, a team they beat 5-3 in Wilmore back on October 13.  That match will start at 9 am followed by the championship match at 1 pm.

Asbury won two of three doubles matches on Friday against Midway, taking number two and three doubles.  Sarah Marshall and Izzy Howell won at two 8-4 over Patti Skelly and Samantha McMichael.  At number three it was Estelle Withrow and Morgan Amis taking the victory over Esther Tsumba and Holly Dollenberger. 

In singles it was Marshall defeating Skelly 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 at number three and Miriam Waslewski defeating Tsumba 6-1, 6-0 in the middle of the lineup to solidify the win.  Shelby Gilles also won at number won 6-4, 6-3.  Amis and Howell were winning before the match was called as Asbury had already secured the win.
