Tennis Cruises Past Berea
BEREA, Ky. – Asbury women’s tennis had little trouble en route to their third straight win to open the season, defeating Berea 8-1 to move to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in the KIAC. The Eagles are 22-6 in KIAC play over the last three years.
The Eagles swept through doubles, as Jordan Myers and Shelby Gilles won their second straight at #1 since being paired together after the first match of the season. Myers/Gilles won 8-1, the same score turned in by Sarah Marshall and Izzy Howell at #2. Howell/Marshall are 3-0 on the season. Miriam Waslewski and Morgan Amis teamed together at #3 for the first time, winning 8-3.
In singles the Eagles rolled, only dropping one set in matches 2-6. Christina Crawford was the lone winner on the night from Berea, winning #1 against Myers 6-1, 6-0. Gilles, Marshall, Wasleweski and Amis were all straight set winners as Izzy Howell won in three at #6. Asbury will travel to Miami-Middletown on Friday and Oakland City on Saturday for two non-conference matches.
