Eagles Sweep Berea
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury women’s tennis continued their winning ways, sweeping past Berea 9-0 for their third straight victory. This is their first 9-0 win of the season, something they did nine times last year.
The Eagles took all three doubles matches 8-2 as Asbury (5-1, 4-0 KIAC) swept through doubles for the second time this year. All three doubles pairings now sit at 4-2 on the season. Miriam Waslewski and Izzy Howell remain undefeated in KIAC action, improving to 4-0 playing at the number three spot. Jordan Myers and Malory Hurtle, the top doubles team are 3-1 in conference play as are Sarah Marshall and Morgan Amis.
In singles action Berea (1-4, 1-4 KIAC) were able to take only six games in the entire match as the Eagles cruised. Hurtle, Amis and Kate Wenger did not surrender a game, winning at number two, five and six. Hurtle and Amis are now 5-1 overall on the season and a perfect 4-0 in KIAC action. Wenger improves to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Myers, Marshall and Waslewski also won in straight sets in singles action. Myers evened her record at 3-3 after a 6-0, 6-3 win. She’s now 2-2 in the conference. Marshall, playing at number three, won 6-0, 6-2 to improve to 4-2 and 3-1 in the conference, while Waslewski won 6-1, 6-0 to also stay undefeated in the KIAC at 4-0. She’s now 5-1 overall.
Asbury will host Indiana East on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The time has been pushed back from the originally scheduled time.
