Eagles Roll Past Midway
MIDWAY, Ky. – Asbury women’s tennis continues to play well against conference opponents, taking down Midway College 6-3 on Tuesday night. The Eagles now sit at 4-1 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the KIAC. Asbury is now 12-3 against conference foes during the last two years.
On Tuesday the Eagles once again used their depth taking the bottom three singles. Miriam Waslewski had little trouble defeating Anna Mushtakova in the fourth spot, 6-3 and 6-1. Waslewski is now 4-1 on the season and 25-2-1 in her career. Morgan Amis won at number five 6-0, 6-0 and Kate Wenger took number six 6-4, 6-1. Malory Hurtle also won at number two to improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the KIAC.
In doubles Sarah Marshall and Morgan Amis took the second spot 8-2 and now sit at 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the KIAC. Waslewski and Izzy Howell teamed to also move over .500 to 3-2 on the season with an 8-1 win at number three doubles.
Asbury will head to the Centre College Invitational on Saturday. The flighted tournament will feature several teams from the surrounding area, each flight will play two matches.
