Eagles Drop Close Match to Oakland City
WILMORE, Ky. – Asbury women’s tennis continued to struggle, losing 5-4 to Oakland City on Monday afternoon. The Eagles have now dropped two of their last three matches.
Asbury (6-3) won only two singles matches on the day, their lowest total since losing 9-0 to Marian College back on September 9th. The Eagles came at number two and number four as Malory and Miriam Waslewski both won in straight sets. Oakland City took number one and number five despite losing a set in each match 6-0.
In doubles Asbury’s only loss came at number two, 8-6 after being up in the match 6-1. Jordan Myers and Malory Hurtle took number one doubles 8-5 and Izzy Howell and Waslewski took number three 8-1. Those three close matches were the difference in a win and a loss for the Eagles on this night.
Asbury’s next match is not scheduled until October 3rd at Berea, the match with Alice Lloyd scheduled for this weekend has been postponed and will be made up at a later time.
