Eagles Continue to Roll, Taking Down Franklin 8-1
FRANKLIN, Ind. – Asbury’s women’s tennis team continued to roll to start the season, beating Franklin College 8-1 on Saturday. The Eagles only dropped number three doubles on the afternoon.
Jordan Myers saved three match points on her way to her first singles win on the season playing in the top position, 2-6, 6-3, 12-10. Myers would pair with Malory Hurtle in number one doubles and again win easily 8-2. Hurtle, who played at number two singles, was up 5-0 in the first set before her opponent Adrian Gillaspy retired due to heat illness.
Sarah Marshall and Morgan Amis teamed together at number two doubles to win 9-7 and would both go on to win their second singles matches of the season. Miriam Waslewski also won her singles match, playing at the fifth position.
Asbury’s scheduled match at Alice Lloyd for Labor Day has been postponed due to rain and will be made-up at a later date. The Eagles will now next be in action in their home opener on Friday September 9th at 3 p.m. against Marian College.
